I Love My Job

While cleaning out my email today I came across this sweet message I received from a bride (who booked!) and I couldn’t help but share what she had said to me. It warmed my heart and put a smile on my face:

So I think I just spent 2 hours looking through your blog and pictures. I just love how you are so involved and truly seem to LOVE what you do.

I really do love my job and I am so blessed to get to do something I truly enjoy for a living. My clients are simply amazing, and I am humbled that they trust me so much to be a part of one of the biggest days of their lives. It is such an honor and I cannot thank them enough. Just the other day, one of my brides from last May wrote me a wonderful letter that confirmed to me that I am in the right place:

Hi Ashley!

I hope that you are doing well! It certainly seems like you are keeping busy (yes, I geekily still look at your blog so I can appreciate all of your beautiful photos!).

I just wanted to send you a quick note and thank you again for doing such lovely work at our wedding last May! We decided that pictures would be the best Christmas gifts, so I made albums for both of our families (parents and grandparents!). Both of our mothers started crying, and have since toted their albums to every conceivable gathering to show off. Every time we look at any of the pictures, it just brings back such beautiful, vivid memories. I really just can’t say enough – you just captured our day perfectly.

I hope that 2011 treats you well, and good luck with everything!

- Amanda

This letter is exactly how I want all of my clients to feel, and it makes me so happy to know that almost a year later (and hopefully longer!) Amanda, her husband and their families, still love their photos. So on this beautiful Friday afternoon, I wanted to say thank you to all of you who have been so supportive, encouraging and wonderful to me over the past 5 years. I know I have said it before, but I wouldn’t be here without all of your love and support. :’)

I cannot wait to see all of what 2011 brings, and I am so excited to share this year with all of my amazing 2011 couples. Now, everyone go out and enjoy this beautiful weather! :)

Forever Thankful,
-Ashley

BHLDN : Wedding Style Inspiration from Anthropologie

If you didn’t have enough reasons to love Anthropologie before, you were just given another one. On Valentine’s Day, Anthropologie launched their brand new wedding line, BHLDN (pronounced beholden), featuring some of the most beautiful items I have ever seen. It makes me want to get married all over again (to the same man though, of course ;) )! As I was perusing their site I noticed some strong themes among the items and I decided it would be fun to put together some idea boards for future brides. There are MANY more products on their site that you just have to check out, but here are some of my favorites:

Ashley I am just loving these two !!! Sooo purdy :)

Jamie & Jake : Richmond Engagement Session

Jamie & Jake are pretty much the coolest people ever. Why? They decided to fly me up to Richmond for their engagement session. I have flown to other locations for weddings, but never for an engagement session. It was so much fun! I loved that I got to shoot in a new location, and also shoot in a place that was so special to these two. They are getting married in just 3 shorts weeks in South Florida, but Richmond is where they have put down roots together and they wanted to document that. I had never been to Richmond before, but it was a beautiful town filled with all of that New England charm that Florida lacks (sigh… if only I could handle snow…).

Jamie & Jake totally rocked their engagement session and gave me a great tour of the city through the session. Later that evening we went to out to dinner, Jamie & I caught a movie and the next day we went shopping. I loved that I really got to know her and I feel like we’ve become good friends. They are both such kind and sweet people and made me feel so welcome and at home with them.

I am so excited for their wedding, I cannot believe its almost here! Jamie is going to make a gorgeous bride and Jake is going to be one handsome groom. See you guys soon!

The Richmond cityscape!

And a little dancing too

The light was just dreamy in this park

Cute :)

OMGosh! I can’t believe you got flown to V for a session. How cool :) Love them!

Jessica & Bryan : Engagement Session

Jessica & Bryan are such an incredible couple. With them being my first engagement shoot of 2011, I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. They were so much fun and so in love, and Jessica was a trooper despite the 50ยบ weather! (yes, she totally rocked her adorable Anthropologie dress and sandals in 50 degrees). But Bryan was always there with a warm hug and a smile. At one point during the session while having been in the shade for I bit I announced “Lets go hug in the sun!” Sure, it was one of my dorkier moments, but I think they got excited at the suggestion ;)

These two work at Universal in the office and their wedding is going to be at the gorgeous Portofino Bay Hotel on 11. 11. 11. Isn’t their wedding date fun? So to in work in where they work, they brought along a clapboard with the details of their wedding for their save-the-date. Too cute! I cannot wait until their wedding day, I had so much fun at their shoot, I know the wedding will be even better!

Here it is! Isn’t it cute?

They brought along popcorn too. Its only appropriate to throw it in the air ;)

Two of my favorites

Jessica’s grandfather had gotten them these cruisers, they were so much fun in the photos!

Bike Love :)

I just love this light!! I want to bottle it and take it with me all the time

OBSESSED with the second bike shot. Like, I wish I had a picture of Ben and I like that. Haha. Speaking of, I think we may need to schedule our annual shoot sometime soon…:)

Wow! Breath taking. I’m actually speechless and a little tear came to my eye when I saw these for the first time. Thank you so much Ashley. You made it so easy for us and I couldn’t have asked for anything better. I am thrilled with the way these turned out and absolutely can not wait to see the rest of them. Thank you again! Ugh – LOVE!!!!
