Photo-Love Workshop

I had such an AMAZING time with all 6 of the ladies who came to my very first Photo-Love workshop! We had a great afternoon of learning all of the basic camera functions, what your camera really can do, and how to use it properly in manual mode. And of course, we finished the afternoon with a fantastic shoot, courtesy of my all-time favorite models, Amy & Ben.

For the first part of the workshop, we talked about all sorts of photography things, but then put them to practice in the field

We talked about Depth of Field and how it works

We moved in close to our models

And also backed away, to show how moving yourself changes a photo’s perspective

We played a lot with back-lighting, and how you can properly expose for it

But we also talked about headroom, and the proper amount a photo should have (not too much or too little, make it just right!)

And one of my favorite lessons, we talked about the Rule of Thirds and how centering your subject isn’t always the best thing

Thank you again Amy & Ben for always being such awesome models and for letting all of these ladies photograph you!

And thank you so much, Laurie, Dana, Jessica, Stacey, Melanie & Stephanie for attending and making my very first workshop absolutely perfect! It means so much that all of you came and wanted to learn from me, I could not have asked for better students. I am honored to have you all as friends and also fellow photographers! Thank you all again so very much :)

So sad I missed this! Looks like so much fun! I know that I have a D5100 that I only know how to shoot video for (for our company). I’d love to learn better how to shoot photos with it!

Baby Levi : Newborn

Just had to share a few favorites from little Levi’s adorable newborn session. I have worked with his mommy & daddy quite a bit (engagement, wedding, trash the dress, and maternity photos!) and I cannot wait to document his first year as well. Congratulations again Kira & Eric! I am so very excited for you two!!

Aunt Katie - August 24, 2011 - 12:06 pm

What an adorable baby! His aunt is very proud. Awesome job Ashley!

Summer’s End : A recap of my summer

Where did the summer go? I remember thinking earlier this year that my summer was going to be so busy and crazy, and now here it is, over. The past 3 months have been amazing, with 11 weddings and 10 engagement/portrait sessions. The time just flew by! So I thought it would be fun to recap this summer’s events, starting waaaay back in May

First I had Amanda & Cameron’s lovely lakeside wedding

Followed by Lauren & Mike’s sunny afternoon wedding

Then I had Parker’s 1 Year session

And then Mason’s newborn session

Up next was my 3 wedding weekend! First was Holly & Craig on Friday

Then Traci & Aaron on Saturday

And then Stephanie & Justin on Sunday. Whew!

After that I had Felicia’s adorable maternity session

And the next day I had little Finley’s newborn session

I headed down to St. Pete for Lauren & David’s awesome sailboat engagement

Then shot Cassidy & Scott’s beautiful DIY wedding

Brianna & Daniel’s engagement session was up next

Followed by Jeanne & Matt’s beautiful wedding at Lange Farm

Amanda & Levi’s airy wedding was next

Then it was back to St. Pete for Katie & Patrick’s wedding

Kaitlyn & John had a mini engagement session for their announcements

And then back to St. Pete again for Genevieve & Alex’s Salvador Dali inspired engagement

Lauren & Josh’s session was next in Winter Park

And then Kira & Eric’s maternity session in Ormond Beach

My final July wedding with Dana & David

And lastly, one more trip to St. Pete for Caroline & Gary’s wedding!

It has been quite a summer for sure, but now I get a bit of a break. 7 more weeks until my next wedding with only 4 sessions in between. In that time I’ll be editing my little heart out, hopefully taking a trip or two to the beach, and then its a week in Maine with the hubby. This summer has been absolutely amazing, and it wouldn’t have been that way was it not for all of the amazing people above! I hope your summer has been going well and that you’ve gotten to relax and soak up some of this sun.

More to come soon! :)

You said your summer was crazy, but seeing it all laid out like that really puts it in perspective. Amazing job, we can’t wait to see the rest!
