Big news!! We’re having a baby!

Baby McCormick | Due August 20, 2016

. . .

Zach and I are beyond thrilled for this huge blessing in our lives! Our 10 year wedding anniversary is coming up this April and we couldn’t imagine a better way to start the next decade of our marriage. We found out just a few weeks before Christmas, and keeping this a secret has been so hard! But I’m so excited that I finally get to share it with all of you. We get several questions whenever we tell someone the news, so I’ll answer those here as well!

How far along are you? I’m 13 weeks today! Only 27 more to go ;)

How have you been feeling? Honestly, not so great. I’ve been battling 7 weeks of all day nausea/vomiting, extreme fatigue and headaches. Luckily my schedule has been slow at the start of this year so it really hasn’t affected my work too much, and the few clients it did affect, I let them know the situation and they were incredibly understanding and patient (thank you Christina & Nicki!!). Everyone keeps telling me these symptoms should clear up around week 14, I really hope that’s the case! I’m ready to feel good again :)

Have you had any cravings? My only “craving” has been buffalo sauce, I could literally drink the stuff. So… I’ve eaten a lot of wings in the past 2 months, haha. Otherwise, I don’t crave much, but try to keep eating so that my nausea stays at bay. I’ve actually had more aversions than anything. My sweet tooth has diminished a bit, and sometimes smells are so overwhelming that I have to leave the room or I start gagging!

Are you going to find out the gender? Heck yes! No way could I wait until the end. We are both so excited to find that out together, I cannot wait until that appointment!

How does Zach feel? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a man MORE excited about a baby. He has been so amazingly supportive through all of my sickness, whining and I-need-all-the-buffalo-wings days. I know he’s going to make an amazing father, I think seeing that is the second thing I’m most excited about :)

What does this mean for Ashley McCormick Photography? For now, not much will change! I’ll be shooting my last wedding before I’m due in August on June 11th, and I’ll take portraits through mid-July. I’ll start taking portraits again in mid-October, and weddings in November. I’ll only be taking a max of 2 weddings a month for the first year after the baby’s birth. Of course, this could change, but for now that’s the plan! I still love what I do and want to continue doing it for as long as I can :)

I’ll be sharing more of our journey as it goes on! We are so blessed to have such wonderful family and friends supporting us in this exciting time, and we cannot wait to meet our little one in August!

Thank you to Heidi Mitchell for our first “family” photo!

Happy New Year everyone!! 2015 was amazing, with 20 weddings and 81 portrait sessions done during the year, I couldn’t have asked for more amazing clients. I was so fortunate to get to take several trips this year, but the giant sequoias in California struck me most of all. Their incredible growth, but the patience and strength it took for them to get there spoke to me deeply. I am really excited about some big changes coming to Ashley McCormick Photography this year, and the word “growth” just seems to fit what’s on the horizon perfectly. I’ll be sharing more details this month, but I hope you all had a wonderful, safe and love filled NYE! Here’s to 2016!!
