1. WHY ARE YOU SO INTERESTED IN NATURAL LIGHTING?
Natural lighting is a wedding photographer’s best friend. Wedding photography involves fast-paced, constantly changing situations. There may not be enough time to get out artificial lighting in every situation and location. The less time I have to spend setting up lighting, the more time I have to shoot your wedding. Natural light is its most beautiful and flattering within 2 hours after sunrise and before sunset. Carefully plan your ceremony and reception time to ensure you have beautiful, natural light, whether you are indoors or outdoors. It will make all the difference in your photos!
2. WHAT KIND OF EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?
I shoot everything digitally and I use all Canon profession equipment. You can check out my gear list HERE
3. HOW DO I BOOK YOU FOR MY WEDDING DAY?
The best way is to set up a consultation where we can discuss the details of your wedding and we can make sure that all of your needs are met. If for some reason you are not able to schedule a consultation due to distance or time, we can always make time to chat on the phone or Skype. If you are ready to sign at the meeting, I’ll have a contract ready for you there. Otherwise, I will email you one that you can fill out and return with you 50% retainer. Once I receive both the contract and the retainer, your wedding date is reserved!
4. DO YOU TRAVEL?
Absolutely! I love to travel and traveling for my job is even better. I would love to talk to you more about your wedding, whether its two hours from my home or all the way across the country! Even if you think flying me out to your wedding would break your budget, please send me an email and I will see what I can do. I am great at finding travel deals :). See where I’ve been HERE
5. I’VE SIGNED THE CONTRACT AND PAID THE RETAINER, NOW WHAT?
After I’ve received your contract and retainer I’ll email you a detailed invoice with your package and payment information. If your package comes with an engagement session we’ll talk to set up a time/date that works best for all of us. Its best to get a date on my calendar as early as possible as I do tend to book up at certain times of the year. Please note that I am not available for Sunday sessions. It’s my one day off with my husband! :)
As your wedding day gets closer, we’ll start to discuss the timeline of your day and what would be best for the lighting that day. Depending on your ceremony time and the time of year can greatly affect the lighting in your photos, and we want to make sure we get the best we can! Within a week of the wedding I will contact you for a detailed timeline. But of course, you can email me at any time to discuss ideas, times, options, or just chat! I am more than happy to help.
6. WHERE SHOULD WE DO OUR ENGAGEMENT SESSION?
Think about something that you enjoy as a couple, may it be nature, sailing, the city life, etc. and we can come up with a location based on your choices. I am happy to give suggestions and help you plan for your session.
7. WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR FOR OUR ENGAGEMENT SESSION?
Rule #1 – Have fun with it! You want to be you in your photos, so stay true to your style. Black and white may be slimming, but they can also be very boring. Really take the time to find the perfect outfits, something that will complement each other, but still reflects your style. This will be the only time that you will take engagement photos, so have fun and dress up more than normal. Choose bright, bold colors mixed with neutrals to give you a modern yet classic feel. Also, don’t forget about the power of shoes, jewelry, hair and makeup. You can see some recent engagement session and what the couples wore HERE to get an idea of what might work for you.
8. DO YOU EAT AT THE RECEPTION? WHERE DO YOU SIT?
Per my contract, I do require a meal at the reception if one is served. And if possible, I always like to eat when your bridal party eats, so that when you’re done eating, I’m done, and then I can start shooting again as you mingle with your guests. I prefer to sit somewhere where I have a good view of the head table, that way I can see you two if something important starts to happen (example: toasts, kisses, etc.).
8. HOW LONG AFTER THE WEDDING/SESSION WILL WE RECEIVE OUR IMAGES?
For engagement sessions the turnaround time is typically 3-4 weeks, and for weddings, please allow 10 weeks.
9. HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER? WHAT’S YOUR EDUCATION? HOW MANY WEDDINGS DO YOU SHOOT A YEAR?
I have had my own business for 7 years now, and I assisted a local photographer for about 2 years before that. I have my Bachelors Degree in Photography from The Southeast Center for Photographic Studies at UCF, and as of January 2013 I have shot 156 weddings! I typically shoot between 25-30 weddings a year.
